12th March 2026: Joint Stand with EPOS and Geo-Inquire, Bergen

EPOS-NG had a joint stand with European Plate Observing System and the Geo-Inquire project at the iEarth – Senteret for Integrert Geovitenskapelig utdanning career day at University of Bergen. It was great to meet the geoscience students and discuss potential careers in research and data management.

2-4 March 2026: First EPOS-NG Scientific Workshop, Bergen

This week, we hosted the first EPOS‑NG scientific workshop. The event brought together the project team, our user panels (representing research, education, industry, and risk management), and the external advisory board. Together, we discussed project progress and explored how the EPOS‑NG infrastructure can be applied across a range of scientific and societal challenges.

The program featured: Presentations of EPOS‑NG instrument pools, services, and datasets; an interactive session on further developing the EPOS‑NO data portal; discussions on potential test projects and infrastructure use cases; and targeted feedback sessions with the user panels and advisory board. It was absolutely wonderful to see the extended EPOS‑NG community in person, and we are excited to start turning the valuable feedback we received into action.

EPOS-NG joined partners from EPOS-FI and EPOS-SE at the 37th Nordic Geological Winter Meeting in Turku, Finland. A central theme from the sessions, particularly “Geohazards in a Changing Climate,” was clear: the Arctic and Nordic regions urgently need advanced, integrated monitoring to address rising geological risks. This mission is why EPOS-NG exists. We are building Norway’s next-generation infrastructure to deliver the precise data and tools required to understand and mitigate these evolving hazards, empowering scientists and decision-makers across the region.

Carolina Cavalcante presented a poster on the EPOS-NG project to an audience of students, researchers, and stakeholders. Her presentation highlighted the project’s commitment to open science, emphasizing that data will be freely accessible through the EPOS-NO portal. She also detailed the wide range of state-of-the-art instrumentation that will be available to the entire geoscientific community and stakeholders, fostering new opportunities for research and collaboration.
